One step closer to a consensus on assessing the relationship between ecosystem services

The Ecosystem services concept is rapidly being integrated into landscape management and environmental policy. Consequently there is an impetus to establish an agreed upon framework to assess the multifaceted relationships between ecosystem services; taking into account both the -supply- and -demand- aspects. Though there have been a diversity of approaches to this, a dynamic approach to methodological choices is needed to maintain relevance amongst the plenitude of current scientific and policy questions.

A joint publication by OPERAs and OpenNESS proposes to characterize these ecosystem associations and reviews current methods capable of assessing these relationships.
