One of the key long term goals of the project and also to outreach and dissemination activities has been the development of the ecosystem services and natural capital resource hub; Oppla. Oppla provides a virtual meeting ground for a network of ecosystem services tool users, providers, and researchers, with the goal of promoting ecosystem services tools and instruments in a wide range of contexts.
Together these diverse ecosystem services users form the OPERAs community of excellence (CoE). Oppla is an online platform that assists a broad range of users to find, share, and contribute knowledge, information and resources for innovative, interdisciplinary, ecosystem-based management. It forms the centre of the CoE, and has been created so that the CoE achieves a shared identity.
Oppla will likely provide many implementation logics some or all of which would have potential to improve ecosystem management practices and outcomes. Oppla will characterise these, highlighting synergies among approaches and revealing trade-offs so that these are transparent to decision makers.
